Self-Care: Self-Love
“It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary.”
- Mandy Hale
We’re invited to uphold the daily mantra: "Remember not to neglect yourself."
Remember that to take care of what surrounds you and above all of those around you, it is essential to take care of yourself.
Our way of relating to the outside depends on our way of life.
Self-care is an excellent starting point to combat stress and manage the heaviness of a daily life that is too fast and full of responsibility.
Take care of yourself gently
Being on the sofa or in bed reading a book or watching a movie in solitude is good. It helps you know how to be with yourself, ask yourself how satisfied you are with your life or the aspects you would like to improve.
Other self-care could be a cuddle, so curl up under the embrace of the blankets to watch your favorite TV series and your favorite herbal tea (or hot chocolate).
Another interesting idea to take care of yourself is to devote yourself to your body. Create a day at the spa in your home. Breathe deeply under the shower or treat yourself to a warm bath with your favorite salts. Choose a sweet and fragrant shower gel, use the softest bathrobe you have, light a candle, do not forget to spread the moisturizer, and finally, a lovely face mask will make you feel at peace with the world. The goal is to feel happy and have very soft skin.
And don't forget the importance of music. Dance to your favorite song to release tension and relax with a playlist of acoustic ballads.
Give yourself a gift
Giving yourself a gift from time to time is essential. We must indulge ourselves when we can. Give yourself something you want or something that can make you feel good.
Self-care in the long run
Treating yourself to days of relaxation and a few gifts from time to time is essential, but it is not enough. Taking care of ourselves must be a priority every day.
Keep stress under control: Meditation and deep breathing are very important and help ward off negative thoughts.
Exercise: A little yoga, maybe a dance lesson, or a simple walk. Movement makes you feel better.
Take care of your diet: being careful about your diet, avoiding too many sugars, drinking plenty of water, and being pampered by herbal teas can change your life radically.
Also, remember to surround yourself with people who can support you. Surround yourself with friends who know how to lighten you and make you smile. Find the strength to push away those who bring only anger and resentment into your life, making you waste energy unnecessarily.
Try to bring "self-care" into your work environment if possible: decorate your office according to your tastes or use objects that give color to your desk.
You may feel a little guilty when you dedicate time to yourself, perhaps thinking that there are many things to do. Remove this useless belief, and remember that taking time to yourself is essential to being the best version of yourself.
